Are You Ready For Change?

I’ll never lose this weight.

Why try if I can’t do it?

Just because it worked for them doesn’t mean it’ll work for me.

They don’t understand my life, my injuries, or how badly I need that ice cream.

I’ve tried everything. Why put myself through this again?

No matter what I do I gain weight.

I’m too old for this.

I’ll start tomorrow.

It didn’t work before. Why would it work for me now?

Have you had these thoughts? I have and many, many others over the years. The guilt and shame I placed on myself was immeasurable. The constant stream of negative self-talk that no one…

New Hashtag!

I feel like I need to clap for myself and begin a round of applause. Welcome back Briana to! It has been an interesting summer for me. I’m doing so well! Thank you everyone who reached out lately and asked me how I’m doing. I’ve really appreciated it.

Long story short, a couple months ago I created a HUGE list of how I wanted to grow this summer and what I wanted to accomplish.

I didn’t get any of it done.

As you can see, I’ve been inconsistent with my blogging this…

Do You Live In Your Own Strength?

I’ve been pondering, worrying and processing so many things lately that I’ve worn myself out! Have you ever done that? Analyzed too much or overthought something to the point your body is physically exhausted? Apparently, I can be good at it.

I was reading Isaiah 40:28-31 and wanted to share it with you.

“Have you not heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will…

The War Doesn’t End With Divorce

Sometimes we get to pick our battles.

And sometimes, they pick us.

I’ve describe what a trigger is in a previous post. You can read it here,

I’ve also talked about triggers somewhat fondly in the videos on my Youtube channel. You can watch one of them here,

But, unless you’ve experienced a trigger, they can be difficult to understand. Being triggered doesn’t feel like a battle because it’s actually a war. In abuse, it’s a power war over of trying to control someone else. Being triggered makes me feel like…well, like that time I sat in a dirty…

Tangible Need Or Crisis?

Life is made of moments. It’s the people we meet and the choices we make which create those moments. Recently, those three ingredients, people, choices and moments intertwined in my life bringing me full circle.

There are several different routes I could have driven home. And many different times I could have left. Further still I could have made a pit stop but instead I went directly home. What all of those have in common? Each is a decision that had to be made either consciously or subconsciously.

Each decision I made that evening brought me to a blocked intersection late…

Grief Strikes Without Warning

My dad called me last week and asked, “Bri, it’s been a few days since we talked. In your world that’s an eternity. How’s it going?”

Once my burst of laughter dissipated we took advantage of my drive time and got caught up. Though he was joking, his point is true. I often move through stages and emotions quickly. I’ve learned how to hold on to lessons learned and let go of hurts. And, I’ll seek help when I can’t figure it out on my own. Still, I can only shake my head and laugh because for months, there’s been…

We make hundreds of choices every day. Beginning from the moment you wake up. Once the alarm goes off will you immediately hop out of bed right or push snooze and roll over? Which outfit will you wear? Will you make the bed or leave it a mess? How long will you brush your teeth? What’s long enough for fresh breath? Which route is the fastest drive to work?  And, if you have children, then you have even more choices and often give them some input in the decision process.

A couple years ago, these seemingly mundane and insignificant decisions…
